It should be overall more risky to torrent new games like shadow of war than older games right? Cause im not sure whether i should wait a couple of weeks before torrenting shadow of war to make it less risky.

That shouldn't make much difference. Especially if you know how to stay safe / anonym, it's the same.

The most "popular" one, that nearly everyone knows is TPB. But you can't really say which one they know & which not. But I doubt they don't know TPB.

I think you missunderstood my question, guess i didn´t phrase it correctly. An example: Is it more likely to get spotted when downloading a game from EA than a game from an indie game developer? Cause i guess big developer/publisher can hire people who care about stuff like torrenting and can send out letters while indie developer probably dont have enough money to do so. And i wanted to know whether there are big developer/publisher like EA /bethesda/etc... who are known to send out letters and care about torrenting more than other companies.

Alright, but that doesn't make a difference. You just have to stay safe & anonym, then you don't have to worry about things like that.

Why does it even matter?! You want to torrent in Germany, in a university where the risks are high. A RIN mod and senior members have already advised you to get a VPN in your very first thread. And you've opened 3 threads since you just joined yesterday and you don't have enuf info?! Just get a VPN already! [[Please login to see this link.]]

Use your VPN if you got one.
Don't use it when using your credit card or any sensible information.

^ yes, it's important to keep in mind that a normal VPN doesn't make you completely anonymous, it just shifts all the trust to the VPN provider and away from your ISP, university, torrent sites you use, peers you connect, etc.
It's a compromise, so it's a good idea to use a VPN only for warez activities and such, and not during your online banking session or whatever.

Four threads in two days for what essentially amounts to the same question would have been a bit too much :geek:

I've always had the feeling torrenting movies, esp. recent ones, is bound to attract more heat than torrenting games. It's an industry that deals with more millions.

This is no real answer and I have no cites or proof, but I have formed from hearsay and vague reports over the years, an idea that Warner (both in terms of movies and games) have been known to go after individuals for torrenting content e.g. when you see folks saying watch out w.r.t. this movie, I got a copyright strike letter... wallop, it's a Warner title.

Entities with the Warner name (and I include HBO etc in this) have longstanding form in corporate shitbaggery regarding copyright e.g. in claiming false ownership and royalties for Happy Birthday To You for many many years, so it's not surprising really.

I didn't set up a VPN when I torrented DOOM-CPY and wound up getting a copyright infringement letter in the mail from Zenimax a little over a week after downloading it.
