Server rates and client rates are too bad.I can't play smooth on online and I can see lag on LAN too .

you should add these commands to userconfig.cfg:
rate "100000"
cl_cmdbackup "2"
cl_cmdrate "105"
cl_dlmax "1024"
cl_updaterate "101"
ex_interp 0.1

and you should add these commands to server.cfg:
sv_cheats 0
sv_minrate 40000
sv_maxrate 100000
sv_minupdaterate 60
sv_maxupdaterate 101

EDIT: Fixed problem. Half-Life doesn't play well with DEP.

Other than vanilla Half-Life, playing the other games like Opposing Force does not show the actual name of the maps as defined in titles.txt but rather their filename when saved like it's ignoring that part of the text file. Is there something I need to fix?

Unfortunately, i have no idea how to fix it.
This is my updated titles.txt for opposing force.
Could you check it if solves the problem and give me some feedback?

That titles.txt is the same one it comes with. The problem seems to be not with the file (other parts of it are read without issue) but with the game's dialog box that handles saved games because it shows the filenames rather than their long names.

From a quick trial I think some instruction is necessary. Not straight forward I think Ill try to find some youtube walk thrus?

Default server and client rates (netcodes) are really very bad because the default settings configured for old computers years ago.These settings must be configured for todays computers.Gameplay is a bit laggy :(

sv_maxupdaterate is "30" and this isn't good
You can increase that value to 60 (like warzone final release) ;;)

sv_minupdaterate is "10" and this isn't good
You can increase that value to 30 (like warzone final release) ;;)

cl_updaterate is "20" and this isn't good
You can increase that value to 100 (like warzone final release) ;;)

and cl_cmdrate is "30" and this isn't good
You can increase that value to 105 (like warzone final release) ;;)


Please add "sv" commands to (in cstrike/server.cfg) and
Please add "cl" commands to (in cstrike/userconfig.cfg or config.cfg)
and
test it with HLDS.(create a LAN server yourself and connect to it) :)

Then you will understand the difference.(it will be more smooth) :o


Note: You can also apply these instructions to czero ::)
