alright so i updated the original post. what i did was simply applied a 1 gb split for a total of 8 parts.

i didn't create the installer for The Orange Box yet. i didn't want to rush it. creating an installer means bug testing for multiple configurations and operating systems. something i don't have to do with the creation of a container file. i'd like to create the installer but i don't have the tools set up yet (apparently i deleted all of my old work/scripts). and with school i won't have a lot of free time so it would probably be months from now. idk i guess i'm not feeling very ambitious anymore :(

your welcome, glad you like it

i can confirm at least for Team Fortress 2 that achievements do work launching from the .bat file (i have hundreds of hours clocked with around half the achievements unlocked at this point). not sure about Portal and Half-Life 2 though.

DISCLAIMER: I don't waste my time making these posts so that fat fucks can walk in and take shit. The PC platform, in its current state, is a beautiful thing. We all have great power, and with great power comes great responsibility. These releases are meant for people who bought their games legally and want the freedom to enjoy them however they damn well please. There are a lot of hard working developers that create amazing work. They deserve your support. So don't be a dick.

Totally agree. My HL-hl2 collection are almost complete and legal...yeah I demo them at first (hate to use the p word hehe) but since I love these games so much I need to
give support to the company that makes them...I might even buy HL3 to on the year 2678 it finally got release ...haha!

Why give them any support....they haven't earned it. They are grossly Incompetent, unless along with their comrades in arms ''Bethesda'' arent trying to pimp Skyrim Modders, they have a franchise as luucrative as HL which they fail to kickstart, how useless can a company be?..in valves case ''dumb as a post''. You'll be old men by the time HL3 ever see's the light of day and by today's standards it'll be a missed oppotunity, full of bugs, and a bad console port.

not sure incompetent is the right word, that sort of implies good intentions but failing to achieve the desired goal (due to lack of skill etc.). i would classify it more as shady business practices (regarding Steam).

but still, Valve brought us some of the best games and one of the few developers where PC is the lead platform. by purchasing The Orange Box i'm saying "hey, i really like this, please do more things like this". yes in a way I'm also funding everything Valve does but that is very much indirect. by purchasing one game i am not condoning the shady business practices that they do. not buying a game because you don't like what a company is doing in some unrelated area is a bullshit excuse for playing a game without having to buy it. if you really hate what Valve is doing, you shouldn't blame the people buying The Orange Box. you should blame the people that are directly encouraging the type of activity Valve is participating in for which you don't like.

as for HL3, no one knows whats going on. many say the project is dead but frankly as far as i can tell Valve hasn't had major layoffs (something that would happen if they weren't working on anything at all. i assure you their entire writing and art teams aren't just making hats and knife skins right now)

HL3 is so mystified...valve really know how to keep people compelled to it even if their not trying.
Some youtube channel like that VVN or VNN I heard there are only 10 people working on hl3. true or not well what a shame seems their baby lost a lot of love to valve well they should go at full force to it to make the best they can actually make it but whether they do it or not the money is already flowing way too much they really became so lazy and uninterested...too much money makes people loose their real passion I guess...no more struggling...or they just so scared coz they can't make another breakthrough game...I totally understand that...they should ask help to modding community coz modders are far more passionate and creative.

Thanks for this upload :) Valve broke a whole load of mods when they pushed the 2013 update and most of them have not been patched to work for the update. Its not always clear what broke them half the time either. I'm gonna try and use this to get them working. Cheers :)

What are the advantages of this repack versus the original Orange Box release?

for HL2/HL2:EP1/HL2:EP2/Portal, nothing really. some patches which means bugs have been fixed but these games were not riddled with problems from day one so it doesn't make much of a difference. in 2010 Valve updated Portal with a new ending (that is bullshit) so i removed the changes and now the ending of Portal is the same as the original ending from 2007.

for Team Fortress 2 there is a major difference. There has been a huge addition of content to TF2 since its initial release in 2007. some of it is frankly bad (such as hats, weapons, and some maps/modes) so that content was removed. what you have here is a version that closely resembles the game that was released in 2007 (in art direction, gameplay balance, etc.) but with additional content that makes it even better (such as Payload mode, which was an awesome addition). this version is 20+ maps vs 6 that originally shipped in 2007. though i'd have to say the best addition in this version is the AI bots which were designed by Valve and they are some of the best bots in any FPS. and if you are scared about some modder ripping content, don't be. i played thousands of hours of TF2, i know the file directory very well and put hundreds of hours of testing into this release.

all packaged within approximately the same size as The Orange Box released in 2007, 7 GB.

basically, upside depends on the game but i can safely say there is no downside.

and sorry i used to have this information in the OP but i removed it when i redesigned the page. i'll add this information to the OP at some point.

i plan on doing another update that brings TF2 even closer to its original 2007 release with the animated dustbowl main menu. i'm very busy right now though so that is probably a few months away.
