@apdonato
Thanks for posting this release - really a dream comes true! You can't imagine how long I'm searching for a clean rip. Back in the days, I got Half-Life 2 retail CD pack as gift but couldn't able to buy The Orange Box when it was published. The.Orange.Box-DETONATiON seems buggy on most modern PCs.

glad you like it! and thanks for posting the hashes!
yes i had the same problem which is why i made this. in fact i can't seem to find a torrent that is still alive for the DETONATiON release of The Orange Box.
kind of surprising being that this game compilation was a great commercial success and was one of the highest rated packages of all time (containing some of the highest rated games of all time). this compilation was one of my favorite purchases of the last generation. so many good memories playing it on my PS3 back in '08 (feels like it was so long ago now).
i was really looking for the original 2007 release (something that contained everything the console versions were and none of the extra crap that came with hundreds of patches over the years). the only scene release i knew of was from DETONATiON and as stated earlier i was not able to find a living torrent. i think there are one or two other releases that random people made but they didn't seem to be put together competently and not sure if they could be trusted.
just as well because there were a lot of good patches for these games. patches for TF2 added so many great maps as well as great bot support. so my goal was to incorporate all of the positives that came with patches but also keep it as similar as possible to the original 2007 release. its still based on GCF so you get all of the size reduction benefits from having all of the games installed in the same folder.

I can try to share a copy of The.Orange.Box-DETONATiON if you want, but it may take some time. Also (if its not too troublesome), can it be possible for you re-upload the release as a set of split archives?

i can definitely do that for you but i'm currently not on a home connection and won't be until mid-december. look for it here around dec ~17. i have to fix one of the nav meshes in TF2 anyway so it will be an update to the main post.

That will be great! Well, its not just for me, but most of the free users may face difficulties to grab the full archive at once. I can also help you to build installer (with proper versioning) for it if you want.

Like occasional graphical glitches, texture rendering issues etc. On the other hand, I'll start uploading the whole release to MEGA as a set of 1 GB split archives.

i used to make full repacks with installers based on inno setup scripting but i've gotten lazy over the years and now i just zip the fuckers. now that you mention it i should make an attempt to create a proper installer for it. in fact i will definitely create a proper installer for it. and it will look clean and professional as if valve themselves did it (it may take a few extra days to release it)
though the prospect of coding the ability to install certain games is making me…cringe
i guess there must be some pre written functions for this floating around the interwebs

^^No, there's no need for another thread, esp. since we talk about a scene release here which you aren't allowed to link to here on RIN anyway, so please only share your links via PM. Thanks.
Yes, I'd also prefer to have the links sent via PM, since this is a scene release after all. While we made an exception for the (also old) EMPORiO version of CS:S, that's a museum piece and not meant to be played at all.
