Counter-Strike 1.6 1on1 Tournament (aim_map)

sponsored by Waats, {Darkness} and ahmadmob
administrated by Waats

1 versus 1 - aim_map - Prizes: see below

What is this?
A small single bracket, single elimination tournament in Counter-Strike 1.6, the old classic CS that gives this site its name. For this first attempt at a tournament here in a long time, we decided for a simple format: One vs one on aim_map. Depending on interest in the community, we might have more small tournaments in the future.

Why not CS:S or CS:GO?
CS 1.6 is better than CS:S, especially for an aim tournament and is "well-researched" in terms of running cracked non-Steam versions. CS:GO unfortunately cannot be cracked in its latest version, and unlike CS 1.6, older versions are not compatible with the current Steam version, as game balancing and maps have been changed significantly.

Details
  • 16 slots (can be reduced or expanded depending on interest)
  • single elimination, with an additional losers final for third place
  • One versus one (1on1)
  • aim_map ([[Please login to see this link.]])
  • 30 rounds, first player to reach 16 kills wins
  • no freezetime
  • HLTV and auto-recording available
  • Server located in London, 2 player slots (see below for ping test)
  • Matchups will be drawn using random.org and announced in the post below

Rules
  • No cheats or external assistance of any kind - demos will be checked
  • If it can get you VAC banned, it's not allowed
  • No trying to hack or crash the server or your fellow participants
  • No letting someone else play for you
  • Participants schedule their own matches - if a player does not show up within 10 minutes, they forfeit the match

Violating these rules results in disqualification and a ban from the forum. Other behaviour that is not explicitly covered by these rules, but deemed unsportsmanlike or otherwise inappropriate for a tournament, may also lead to disqualification.

Prizes
  • Panzer Corps + Allied Corps DLC (3x)
  • Mercenary Kings: Reloaded Edition
  • Insurgency
  • The Bard's Tale
  • Space Farmers
  • Tropico 4: Collectors Bundle
  • Kingdom: New Lands
  • Tormentor X Punisher
  • Wasteland
  • Guild of Dungeoneering
  • Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich
  • Sid Meier's Civilization V
  • Gyromancer
  • Tomb Raider GOTY Edition
  • Galactic Civilizations II: Ultimate Edition
  • 12 is Better Than 6
  • Hacknet Deluxe
  • Offensive Combat: Redux
  • The Uncertain: Episode 1 - The Last Quiet Day
  • Infectonator: Survivors

The Top 3 each choose one of the games. The winner is awarded the forum rank "CS Aim Tournament Winner" or something similar.

How to enter
You must have at least 50 25 posts and no warnings to be eligible for participation. Make sure to test your ping to the datacenter before you sign up:
ping speedtest-lon1.digitalocean.com
Post in this thread to enter and include your ping. We do not recommend playing CS with a ping above 80; we will only accept players with ping higher than 120 if there aren't enough participants otherwise.

How to play
Once all slots are filled, the server IP and password will be sent out to all participants. The server should be compatible with most CS 1.6 versions, including those posted in the Standalone subforum and the legit Steam version.

If you do not own the game or don't want to use your Steam account, we recommend this version: [[Please login to see this link.]]

You can start the game using "Counter-Strike 1.6.bat". Make sure that Steam is not running before starting any non-Steam version! For those who do not use this version, we recommend adding "-console -noforcemparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd" as launch options, to disable mouse acceleration and enable console. Please make sure your game is configured to your liking before you commit to a match.

To schedule a match, use PMs to agree on a time and day with your opponent, then post it in this thread. Use GMT for all times.

To join the server, add it to your favourites list in the server browser or use the password and connect commands in the console. When both players have joined the server and have agreed to start the match, both need to reset their score by writing /rs in the in-game chat (press y). If anything goes wrong and the players disagree on the final score, we will review the demo and decide the winner.

How to watch
When the tournament starts, the HLTV server address will be posted here. You can join the HLTV server from in-game like the gameserver. Note that the HLTV server only works for protocol 48 clients (so not very old game versions).

Good luck and have fun!

The bracket and current standings can be found in the post below.

It is nice to see 1.6 tournament in RIN, sadly win10 don't like cs1.6 anymore, i can't play this game anymore because of weird mouse movement issue after windows 10 FCU. Mouse move on it own, i mean after certain time mouse will automove into random angle, seems like aimbot

Good luck to all participants. :THUMBS UP:

Hello lespaul.
I am not sure if this is the issue you're talking about but it seems to be fixed with the last big update.
[[Please login to see this link.]]

This tournament is for fun. Any player is welcome regardless his skill level. :8=)

Nice tournament I will like to participate but I tested my ping and was ~470ms   that server is too far from me (like the possibility to buy a cheap video card ::P )

I've seen several people reporting high ping. The location was chosen to minimize the distance to as many users as possible; most users (~70%) are from Europe, second-most from NA.

I'll keep this running until the end of the month.
If we do not get enough player, the tournament will unfortunately be cancelled

Problem with high pings is that the opponents also suffer from them, sometimes more, because the ones with the high pings have huge peekers advantage, if the ping translates into lags.

FML.

If we want this tournament to take place, I guess we should remove the ping limit rule.
Or just cancel the whole tournament. At least, we did our best and no one will ever attempt to make a community tournament again.

I'd definitely get in on this and click on some heads like my old cal-P Days but unfortunately with the server being in London my ping is 400+

still willing to try maybe in the server itself it will be playable, put me down.
